One, The Lifted Brow issue 4 (featuring great new tracks from The Whiskers and Fewn alongside a ton of other noteworthy artists) is available for pre-order! It’s also ridiculously cheap considering you get two CDs and a book for only $25 US. Check it out here: The Lifted Brow

Two, The Northwest Man has a new EP. It’s called EP?. You can download it right now over at the Northwest Man page on Awkwardcore.
Three, Fewn’s long-awaited Echolocate Yourself is finally being released on November 15th, Thom Stylinski’s birthday. It’s the best Fewn album by a wide-margin, because it’s the first that was written and recorded together as a band with everyone’s input. Preorder it here! Fewn has a new EP in the works too, but more on that later.
Happenings! Fewn, The Whiskers, etc.
August 22, 2008Things are happening! First off, The Whiskers were recently reviewed by Delusions of Adequacy: Hopefully additional professional-type reviews of this caliber will be rolling in.
Speaking of The Whiskers, a brand new Whiskers tune will be appearing, alongside efforts from an impressive list of indie-rock luminaries, on a compilation curated by the Aussie literary rag The Lifted Brow. I’d tell you who else is on it but I think it’s a secret and you wouldn’t believe me anyway. The Whiskers are busy working on the follow-up to The Distorted Historian and may even play some shows in the near future.
Next, Fewn completed their new album, Echolocate Yourself. It is, in many ways, their first fully-realized album, written and recorded as a four piece and largely eschewing the postal-rock style of past efforts. In other words, it’s their best album yet. It’s due on Oct. 31st in honor of Robert Pollard’s birthday. There are a good handful of preview-like tracks on their Myspace.

March 29, 2008It seems like only yesterday that Awkwardcore Records was born. Let’s just say that’s true and ignore the extended period of procrastination we’ve gone through. Right! We’re here now, and there are many exciting happenings in the air.
What’s New?
Don’t worry, if you’re reading this, you haven’t been left “out of the loop.” This blog is, in fact, new (brand-spanking to be exact).
Have you seen our website lately? Go have a look, and enjoy our ultra sheik internet face lift. It was virtually painless (get it?).
